Chien-Nien Chen, (Musical Director) is
a native of Taiwan. He is currently enrolled in the graduate composition
program in film scoring at New York University. Upon receiving his
undergraduate degree in Music from Tunghai University in 2000, he
served as resident composer and principal saxophonist for the Taiwanese
Ministry of National Defense, performing original compositions at
several national ceremonies, parades, and state functions.
Recently, Mr. Chen has been awarded the NYU Composition Competition
prize for his Island of The Legend, a large-scale symphonic work
that portrays the vivid life of Taiwan. Mr. Chen is also an active
conductor. He has conducted the symphony orchestra and concert band
of the Ministry of National defense in Taiwan and currently serves
as assistant conductor of the NYU Orchestra. In addition, Mr. Chen
is the musical director of the theatre group The Thirteen Months.
